Holiday Social Recap

We had another fun holiday social this year. The highlight of the event was the presentation of the scholarship awards to App State and UNC-Charlotte. Due to the generosity of our sponsors for the golf tournament and the annual conference, the Carolinas RIMS chapter presented checks for $15,000 to each university. Ben Reiter, Chapter Treasurer, presented checks to university representatives shown below.

When Dick Oelhafen, a great RIMS champion, passed away, we designated a scholarship in his honor.  This $1,500 scholarship is awarded to an exemplary student with an interest in claims.  Sarah Scott, a Senior Risk Management and Insurance student at UNC-Charlotte, was the recipient of this year’s scholarship.  She possesses excellent analytical, project management, communication and leadership skills. Sarah is due to graduate in May 2019. Congratulations Sarah!

Our sincerest thanks for everyone that brought a coat to the event, making this a warmer winter for those in need. I am humbled by your contributions. The number of coats outweighed my expectations, so a sincere thank you!  For those that missed the event, we had our first wine swap.  We had great participation with 15 bottles of wine exchanged.

From the board, we wish all of you the very best this holiday season!
