The Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. (RIMS) is a proactive voice on behalf of risk managers, dedicated to supporting their function and enhancing their profile as vital elements in organizational success. Founded in 1950, RIMS represents nearly 3,900 industrial, service, nonprofit, charitable, and governmental entities. The Society serves 9,600 risk management professionals around the world.

The Carolinas Chapter of RIMS is based in Charlotte, NC and serves the risk management community in the Charlotte metro area, North Carolina Foothills and upstate South Carolina counties including York, Chester, Lancaster and Kershaw. Currently, the Carolinas Chapter has 133 deputy members and 10 associate members.

The Carolinas Chapter endeavors to meet needs of its members by hosting seven monthly meetings each year, sponsoring a Shadow Day for risk & insurance students at Appalachian State University and UNC-Charlotte, hosting and participating in the RIMS Southeastern Regional Educational Conference each fall, co-hosting special events with other professional organizations and sponsoring an annual fundraising event for the Spencer Educational Foundation.
