Medical Marijuana and Workers' Compensation

While many RIMS groups in the Carolinas take a break  for the summer, we found a great speaker with a very relevant topic and  wanted to provide an opportunity for all to attend.

Mark  your calendar and join us for Mark Pew of PRIUM and a candid discussion about Marijuana and Workers’ Compensation.

This presentation will provide insight into what marijuana is, how it is used for medicinal purposes, the current evidence on its short/long term consequences, the unintended consequences of its legalization, the impacts on workers’ compensation and drug free workplaces, and risk management techniques.

In May of this year, legislation was approved to create Medical Marijuana programs in South Carolina.  Once this is done, it’s just Hop, Skip and a Jump to the overall legalization of marijuana (criminalized since 1937) with some states already on the band-wagon, legalizing marijuana for recreational purposes.  “The South Carolina Medical Marijuana Program Act, H 4037, would allow patients suffering from a listed condition to use and safely access medical marijuana if recommended by their doctors.

Cost is $20 for RIMS members and $25 for friends of RIMS. Please RSVP no later than noon on Monday, July 6th. Make sure you RSVP through the Western Carolinas RIMS website.
