2013 Golf Outing

In lieu of a May luncheon, the Carolinas Chapter of RIMS invites you to join us at this fun event open to all golfers, regardless of skill level!  The purpose of this Golf Outing is to raise funds for educational opportunities of Risk Management students.  For this reason, all group pairings at the silver sponsorship level and above will be filled first and any remaining spots on a wait-list basis.  Individual registrations will be accepted for single players.​​ ​Golf includes breakfast, snacks, lunch (catering provided by Mac's Speed Shop), cart, range balls, and 18 holes of golf.

Severe Weather Preparedness breakfast seminar

AccuWeather has invited all Carolinas RIMS members to the AccuWeather Severe Weather Preparedness breakfast seminar on Wednesday, May 8 at the Charlotte Marriott Executive Park (5700 Westpark Drive, Charlotte, NC 28217). This is a free event. Registration will be held from 7:45am to 8:30am and breakfast is from 8:00am to 8:30am. The presentation "Protecting People, Property, and Profits: Best Practices for Severe Weather Preparedness" will begin at 8:30am, concluding at 11:00am. Student Membership Growth Award

​Carolinas RIMS is proud to announce that it received the 2012 RIMS Student Membership Growth Award because of our increase in student membership in 2012. Our Chapter increased its student membership by more than 10% last year. This achievement will be acknowledged at RIMS 2013 Annual Conference & Exhibition, April 21-24 in Los Angeles via a listing in the conference program, poster in the RIMS booth (#1021) and a listing on a presentation slide during the Awards Luncheon on Monday, April 21. 

Student Shadow Day

Carolinas RIMS is pleased to be hosting Student Shadow Day 2013 on Friday, March 22. We need corporate sponsors to host one or two risk management students from either Appalachian State or UNCC for the day. Shadow day gives all of us the opportunity to mentor future risk management and insurance professionals and provide the students a glimpse at the opportunities our profession has to offer. It is an invaluable experience for the students and one that RIMS enjoys hosting, but we could not do it without your help.

Service Provider Appreciation Luncheon

The Carolinas Chapter of RIMS annual Service Provider Appreciation Luncheon is Thursday, February 21.  If you are a member of the Carolinas RIMS Chapter, you will receive an email to nominate two of your service providers to join you for lunch.  

The luncheon will be held at Bonterra Dining and Wine Room (1829 Cleveland Ave., Charlotte, NC or see map below) and will begin around 11:30am. Please be aware that this event is for Carolinas RIMS Chapter members only. 

We will be joined by Charles Petty, Ph.D., CSP, CPAE, a humorist who has spoken to over 3200 different audiences in 50 states and 14 countries, primarily on work/life balance.  Dr. Petty has the rare ability to package profound, life-changing truths in humor.  He has a soft southern accent and uses clean, original humor.  He says, “My job as a speaker is to put a smile on faces, information in minds, motivation in hearts, inspiration in spirits, and - make the program planner look good!” His presentations are perfect for a keynote or following a meal, and especially when spouses and guests are present.  Dr. Petty is President of Family Success Unlimited, located in North Carolina, and since 1985 all he does is “eat and speak.” He was inducted into the National Speaker Hall of Fame in 1998, joining such speaking legends as Art Linkletter, Norman Vincent Peale, Earl Nightingale and Zig Ziglar.
